California Compliant AR Mod Kit

My tech and I worked for about 3 hours on this. The video made it look super easy. The rear release pin kept getting stuck, the tech finally realized the pin was bent. A very slight tap of the neoprene hammer straightened the pin and now it works great. I especially love that breaking the upper and lower is only about 1/16 of and inch. Now I just need to train.

Bolt catch release has two springs that are virtually impossible to keep from falling out while installing. I JB welded them into the release. The rear break down pin must be pushed hard to the rear of the gun when you want to break it down completely. I have not had the detent pin fly out when doing this but it might be a good idea to trim the spring to relieve some of the pressure on the breakdown pin?? My biggest concern was clearing the "double feed" scenario- your video on how to accomplish this was great. I will keep this product-dont like that non precision feel on the takedown pin, but I will get over it.

I like the Hellfighter pin, but I'm not liking the mag release button which doesn't allow for a bolt catch. It does what it's designed to do and works fine, but I'm going to have a Hogue Freedom Fighter kit installed (keeping the Hellfighter pin) so my rifle will have a bolt catch. In fairness, I should have done a bit more research on the Cali-compliant options before choosing this particular set-up. It's just a preference thing.

Fairly easy to install but very easy to use. If you live in Kalifornia, this is for you!

It’s been working great so far, I’ve put the system on two of my rigs and I’m working on a third but I lost one of the pieces so just gotta pick up a spare and get back to it. Now I just gotta drill the motions. Keep up the good work!

Pretty slick way to stay compliant here in the Peoples Republik, the only thing I don’t care for is the loss of my Bolt Catch, other than that it’s great.

I’ve installed this kit along with the hogue freedom fighter mag pin kit and it works flawlessly! Hate the California rules but love that this is available for anyone that wants a somewhat normal looking AR

This product would have worked as advertised if my lower was a standard rear facing take down detent. Silencerco has the detent and spring retained by the grip. If you guys make one with detent chanel rotated 90 degrees, please let me know. Otherwise great thats not a condemnation on the part.

This product is awesome and I can't say enough about the Juggernaut team! This was a fabulous experience from start to finish.

The modification does function as advertised, but as we all know; the upper and lower isn't meant to be repeatedly separated to change the magazine. The being said, there's a need for some compromise. My situation is that I need to allow my upper and lower to have some wiggle to give enough play to allow the modified rear takedown pin to function. Also, I need to allow even more wiggle to be able to fully pull out the modified takedown pin to separate the upper from the lower. To do this, I need to remove the grip on the lower and backoff the tension screw. It can be that my upper and lower aren't the best fit to begin with, but it does seem like there needs to be some wiggle between the upper and the lower for the modified rear takedown pin to function. If I adjust the tension screw, take all the wiggle out of the connection between the upper and lower; the modified takedown pin doesn't function. The wiggle is not terrible, so I will continue to use the Hellfighter without a tight fit between the upper and lower.

Great kit, I just wish it held back the bolt after the last round. But can’t complain, it makes it legal for me to have an AR

Well, I have to eat crow today. I was having problems after installing the Juggernaut CA compliant kit and I assumed it was the magazine lock that was causing the issue. It turns out that it was the buffer and spring that I had installed at the same time. Now that I installed the correct one I’m not having the jamming malfunctions anymore. The Hellfire kit works pretty well compared to the other 3 kits I’ve tried and is my favorite choice. My apologies for the bad review. Original review: This is the third California compliant device that I’ve spent money on and it seemed like everything was working well…until I tried feeding a round in the chamber. It kept jamming and I couldn’t figure out why. I guess the bolt catch now catches on the magazine follower. The manufacturer suggests filing down the follower on the magazine or buy old school metal magazines that don’t have the follower. I’m not a professional gunsmith so this is kind of ridiculous.

Good product, first time builder and went in no problem

Like the title says, it's a handy tool if you wanted to have "features" on your rifle. The trade off is that you modify the rifle in ways that aren't intended and could cause problems. I think in the moments where it matters, I'd prefer to have an unmodified takedown pin and bolt release and such. Still, this is a great option if you're looking into this sort of thing.

I have a few of these and they work great. Very fast and easy. After doing it a few times it’s almost as fast as a typical reload.

arrived on time all parts in the package. Good instructions, however, it took a little bit of work to get it installed (not an Armorer). it works as advertised and very easy to use and reload. it allows me to retain all the parts of my original AR and still be able to drop the Mag quickly here in the Peoples Republic of CA. One issue, however, which i had to go to a gunsmith for was in taking the gun down for cleaning. he showed me how to do it and not to be afraid i would not get it back together. overall, it was, and is, a great addition. i would buy again .

I've installed this kit on all my ARs. I threw away all of the other clunky "solutions." Once you get it dialed in on your rifle it will become second nature. This is a solid kit made in USA.

I purchased this years ago when i lived in comifornia and absolutely loved it. It was easy to use and still made shooting fun. If I still lived in California, I would purchase another in a heartbeat.

A great kit and easy to install. Takes a few trail runs to get use to for reloading your mag but worth it to be “compliant” with Commiefornia laws.

This mod kit was simple to install and works great. Since we have to modify our magazine release here in California to be compliant, than this is an excellent option.

Super easy to install. Way better than all the other kits in there market. Allows you to change magazines pretty quick.

Sad that we need these at all but with that said I have 2 installed and the work great. Better option than many others in my opinion.

It was easy to install and it probably assists in making my AR compliant but I’m pretty sure there are some other issues that have to be addressed on the AR to insure CA compliance because the State is determined to make everything a complete bitch to comply with. I found it to be very finicky and some magazines seem to jam with it. I am goi g to remove it from one of my lowers to check for function with and without it. It’s just another necessary evil imposed on the gun owners of kalifornia!

Great product

Unfortunately, I live in CA and had to modify my AR to be complaint. The Mod Kit works well and allows me shoot my AR with turning my rifle to look like a boat paddle.

This kit is easy to install and gives you most of the features while staying ca compliant. Great alternative to featureless

I think the Saint is closer to an AR-15 in dimension even though it's AR-10 .308, so the part originally didn't fit but their customer service was top notch in getting it resolved so still 5 stars

A little pricey but worth the money IMO

The pin is the only great thing. It could use a bit more cleaning in the cut out as mine still had machine sharp edges. (A little file and oil helps). The other piece (mag locking) removes the bolt lock. Which is not ok if you are going to certain ranges that require to leave the bolt locked open.

Hard to diagnose issues without removing the pin. It’s good that a solution was designed but I like the featureless grip option over this honestly

My CA compliamt mod kit is great! It was easy to install. It's easy and quick to use. My MSR has all the features allowed in other states but isn't an assault rifle by CA legal standards. Thanks Juggernaut!

This is the greatest California compliant Device that I could imagine! Easy to install! It works excellent! If you need California compliance, this is the way to go!

Works as intended but in my opinion overpriced. It doesn’t run smooth when you’re trying to disengage both take down pins. If instead of a detent, it was a ball bearing of sorts to let the pin run smother, this product would break the internet!… It would be worth the money but for now…I’d say 30-40$ tops is the value of this mod.

It does its job. Adds a bit of play between upper and lower receivers but otherwise works. Sucks that such a product even needs to exist but thankful that Juggernaut is doing what it can to help Californians.

I have it on 5 or 6 of my rifles. By now it takes me maybe additional 1 second longer to release the mag and close it back up vs standard (normal) AR. Only complain is that I had to always check the knob as it gets lose and actually fell off a couple of times. I purchased some tiny rubber gaskets and it completely solved the problem. It would be a good idea if Juggernaut had a permanent rubber gasket inside to prevent the knob from getting lose. Otherwise a perfect solution to CA’s lame laws.

The parts were well made,fit perfectly and the instructional video was top notch.

Functionality, the JT kit works fine. However, 2 issues I've run into: (1) the button trends to loosen and unscrew after a day at the range. It hasn't unscrewed completely and fallen off (yet) but that would be an issue if it did. And (2) when you pull the takedown pin out to separate the upper & lower for cleaning you have to be REALLY careful to not let the detent pin slip off of the takedown pin. Otherwise, you're spending time precariously trying to push the detent pin back into place (while trying not to bend it). If the takedown pin could somehow be re-designed so that it keeps the detent pin pressed while pulling it out that would be awesome!

I have other AR's with the armaglock and they work but they failed me at the same time (the catch loosen up over time no matter how tight or how much loctie you use) so when it came time to fix mag my next ar, i decided to look around and came across the jt tactical kit. Bought it and installed it and love it! I like how descreet the acutal locking portion is, way less intrusive than others out there. love the kingpin design, that offers you the ability to disasemmble the button and pull the pin out. After installing the first one, i ended up buying 3 more +1 for an ar10 and swapped out my other rifles. It still sucks to have fixed mag, but might as well make it a little convient. Will definitely buy another or reccomend this to others!

I love the simplicity of it and easy to install as well

It was cool for a while but switched to a featuless build. The rear pin got bumped and bent slightly making it almost impossible to remove. Also if the bolt drops while and empty mag is inserted or if there is a malfunction it makes the firearm dangerously difficult to clear or open. And also very fiddly and annoying in general. Cool product lame compliance laws.

Ended up not using it because it was too difficult to use and install.

Works great! Using it on 2 AR platforms and it operates flawlessly. I have a CA compliant modification from another company and it’s junk compared to the Hellfighter mod. I will only be using the Hellfighter mod from now on.

Works flawlessly, easy installation. Even for someone with no experience taking apart an AR. I’m glad I went with this option! Definitely will buy again if another AR ends up in my gun safe :)

I want to start by saying I was trying to install it upside down for at least 20 minutes. Once I figured out that I was a dolt, it dropped right in. Adjustments were easy, and I will admit, I didn't use any loc-tite as the video recommended, but haven't had any issues with that screw moving. I love having a featured rifle and the jugg kit makes it so terribly easy to just break the action - instead of one button to drop the mag, it's 2. My son is annoyed by it, but I think fully worthwhile.
